Lake Como Couple Photoshoots by Chris Boland
Thanks for finding my gallery of couple photoshoots in Lake Como. Most of these sessions last around two hours and tend to move between a few different places — perhaps a villa or garden, time by the lake, and sometimes a boat ride. Couples usually book a shoot while they’re here on holiday and would simply like a set of beautiful, relaxed photographs to remember their time together. I’m happy to suggest locations and timings if that’s helpful, but I keep things flexible and easy, and I’m just as happy to work around ideas you already have.

FAQ
How long is a Lake Como couple photoshoot?
Most sessions last around two hours. Shoots usually take place in one main location, which gives us time to work at an easy pace and make the most of the surroundings. In some cases, a short boat ride can be added afterwards if you’d like a change of setting.
Where do the photoshoots take place?
Shoots are often centred around a single location — such as a villa, garden or lakeside area — depending on where you’re staying and how you’d like the photos to feel. I’m happy to suggest locations, or to work around places you already have in mind.
We’re not used to being photographed — will it feel awkward?
Most couples feel this way at first. I work in a relaxed, understated way and keep things natural, without stiff posing. The focus is on making the time feel easy and fun, so the photographs feel genuine rather than over-directed.
What should we wear?
Feeling comfortable is important, but many couples enjoy dressing up a little for the shoot. Simple, well-chosen outfits tend to work best, especially when photographing in elegant or scenic surroundings.
How and when will we receive the photos?
I deliver all of the photos digitally, with both colour and black and white versions of each image. I will send you a little preview within a day or two and them all within two weeks.
Do we need permits to take photos at Lake Como?
Most villas require a photography permit, however there are some public areas that do not. If permits are needed for a location you’re considering, I’m happy to advise and help you decide on the best option.
Short Lake Como Highlight Films
I can also create a short highlight film alongside your Lake Como couple photoshoot. It’s usually around two minutes long and is intended to capture the atmosphere and feeling of your time by the lake. I also offer an analogue Super 8 option for a softer, more nostalgic look.

On the day of the shoot, Chris made both of us feel completely comfortable, and his patience and easygoing personality helped the whole experience feel natural. The photos he delivered were absolutely beautiful, with a mix of candid and composed shots, and the film was cinematic, polished, and full of emotion.”

About Me
The first good photograph I took was of Bob Dylan. It was with a simple 35mm film camera at a music festival many years ago. The picture was just a snapshot, but it captured the spirit of the day – which is what it’s all about.
I spent many years photographing concerts and musicians for a newspaper. All through this time, I was learning how to use a camera and how to photograph people, and it was a wonderful way to learn.
Today I’m a wedding photographer and videographer and could not be happier. It would be a pleasure to join you on your wedding adventure and to document your celebrations.
